Computer Provisioning Procedure

To simplify and streamline FHSU’s employee computer replacement and maintenance processes, Technology Services has implemented the following procedure:

  • All full-time faculty/staff will have one computer, either a standard desktop or a standard laptop, paid for by the university.  One monitor will also be provided by the university.
    • Options available with departmental funds, subject to TigerTech approval:
      • One additional monitor
      • Misc. peripherals such as a wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, webcam, etc.
      • Additional software
  • Student worker computers will be replaced subject to TigerTech approval.
  • TigerTech will automatically schedule replacement of the computer and notify the user.
    • All computers will be on a regular replacement cycle, currently determined to be four years.
    • Computers may be replaced sooner only if a technical issue arises which requires its replacement.  Early replacements must be approved by TigerTech.
    • Submit the "Technology Purchase Request" workflow form to request a new computer.  Do not request a new computer using the CTC Request for Services Lotus Notes form.  (See Technology Purchasing Procedures for more information about accessing and using the correct forms).
  • Standard specifications will be updated annually.  This procedure is subject to change.  Current information will be posted on this page.


All exceptions to this procedure must be requested using the "Technology Purchase Request" workflow form.  (See Technology Purchasing Procedures to learn how to access the form).  All exception requests are subject to initial approval by TigerTech.  If approved, TigerTech will initiate the remaining approval process, which includes the applicable Dean/Vice President and the Vice President for Administration and Finance.  Note:  Some exceptional requests may require additional funds from the department.

  • Additional computer
  • Lab computer(s)
  • Computer for someone who is not a full-time employee
  • Early replacement, based on technical necessity
  • Special needs / High performance computer
